BERKELEY — The Berkeley Township Police D.A.R.E.
program, Berkeley Municipal Alliance and Mayor Varano,
in conjunction with the Ocean Running Club, are hosting
their Third Annual 5K and One Mile Run/ Walk. This event
will take place at Veteran's Park in Bayville on May 10.
The One Mile Run/Walk will start at 9 a.m., with the 5K
following at 9:30 a.m.
The D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program
and Municipal Alliance are both committed to teaching
the children of the community the dangers of tobacco,
alcohol and other drugs. They also stress the importance
of making good decisions, staying confident and
establishing positive friendships.
All proceeds from the D.A.R.E. Classic will directly
benefit the Berkeley Police D.A.R.E. program, Berkeley
Municipal Alliance, Berkeley Recreation and, ultimately,
the children of the community.
A great day is, once again, planned for everyone to
enjoy. There will be T-shirts, food, music and many
children's activities are planned. An awards ceremony
will be held with trophies and medals given out to top
finishers in many age groups.
New this year, a 5K course has been USATF certified, One
Mile Run/Walk course has changed, more medals awarded in
the One Mile Run/Walk.
